Change of name to NSU Motorenwerke AG on August 5; capital: DM 27 million By the time production ceased in 1963, 1,034,277 NSU bicycles had been manufactured after the end of the war. Annual production of motorcycles exceeded the 100,000 mark in 1953 and reached its absolute peak in 1956 with 236,132 units. From 1957 to the end of 1968, NSU produced around 760,000 passenger cars. The number of employees working on this increased from over 5,000 in the 1950s to over 7,000 in the 1960s.
